10 Greatest Ever Formations Of Wrestling Factions

2. The New World Order

D-Generation X
WWE

Granted, the New World Order became a bloated mess that played a role in tanking WCW when reflecting back on the demise of Ted Turner's pro rasslin' business. But man, for a spell there, the nWo was the hottest thing in the entire industry.

After Scott Hall and Kevin Nash had jumped ship from the then-WWF to WCW in mid-1996, these Outsiders threatened to take over World Championship Wrestling - setting them up for a Hostile Takeover Match against Team WCW's Sting, Lex Luger and Randy Savage at that year's Bash at the Beach PPV.

Of course, the kicker here is that Hall and Nash had a mystery man up their sleeve for that bout. And not just that, but said mystery man was revealed to be perennial granny-hugging, baby-kissing, vitamin-taking, skullet-adorned, perma-tanned babyface Hulk Hogan.

That Hogan turn was hugely shocking - the Hulkster having been a 'good guy' for 12 years by that point - and resulted in the rare sight of trash being thrown at the ring in disgust from the watching Daytona Beach crowd.

Dubbing themselves the New World Order of Professional Wrestling, brother, the nWo was off to the races. It was brilliant, it was attention-grabbing, it was genuinely different, and the formation of this iconic faction stands as a pivotal part in WCW emerging as the industry leader for the next year or two.
