WWE: 10 Greatest Ever Sting Moments

2. WCW Nitro - Sting Attacks The NWO Throughout 1997

It's hard to put Crow Sting into words for new wrestling fans because you simply had to see it to understand it. After his free agent speech, Sting began appearing in the rafters of the WCW arenas wearing all black outfits with white facepaint. For a few weeks, announcers speculated that this meant he was aligned with the New World Order and had turned his back on WCW. On October 26, 1996, Sting declared himself out of the New World Order's price range and left the ring. After that, he wouldn't speak on WCW television for over one year. Imagine that for a second: The number one babyface in the company managed to be a main event player without ever saying a word on the microphone and barely ever wrestling a match. Sting began to launch attacks on the nWo, rappelling from the ceiling to attack the large heel group and using a black baseball bat to even the odds. The live crowds would go insane whenever Sting would make an appearance and it was obvious that Sting vs. Hogan was the huge money match that WCW was waiting for. Finally, after one such attack, Sting silently pointed his baseball bat at Hulk Hogan and the WCW world title. The crowd exploded and the stage was set for one of the biggest matches in WCW history.
