10 Greatest Feud-Ending Wrestling Matches Of All Time
8. Hulk Hogan Vs. Macho Man Randy Savage (WrestleMania V)
In all fairness, it should be noted that this match would be far from the last that these two performers would have. What it was, though, was the culmination of the feud that was running at the time. And what a feud it was. After dominating the WWF tag scene as The Megapowers, Randy Savage's jealousy over Hulk Hogan and Miss Elizabeth's supposed relationship would finally lead to the hot head superstar beating Hogan backstage and ending their alliance. Their budding rivalry that began with Savage's world title win at WrestleMania IV would finally culminate in this one-on-one contest. This is the prime example of a professional wrestling "money" match. You have your two biggest stars engaged in a compelling long-term rivalry ready to settle it all over the world title on the biggest card of the year. It's the kind of build that fans compare nearly every WrestleMania main event to and is often the reason that you find so many disappointed that the current offerings do not match the simple greatness of this set-up. For their part, Hogan and Savage did a fine job brawling with each other in what would prove to be something of a pre-cursor to the attitude era style matches of Steve Austin's reign. It could be argued that this was the greatest in-ring match of Hogan's prime years, just as it could be argued that the WWE has never done such a fine job of managing a rivalry from beginning to sweet, sweet end.
