10 Greatest Matches From WWE's SmackDown Six

9. Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Los Guerreros (SmackDown 2003)

Kurt Angle Edge No Mercy 2002
WWE

The high flying contingent of the six strut their stuff before an invested TV crowd in this brilliantly booked match. In the aftermath of No Mercy’s match for the inaugural SmackDown tag team champions, they realised they had something good on their hands in this decision, and they don’t take their foot off the gas.

The match here is to decide the number one contenders for Angle and Benoit’s belts, and all participants do a tremendous job of putting the championships over as worth winning. Edge and Rey once again show off their tag chemistry with some innovative team moves (most of which involve Edge flinging the smaller man into foes), but this match belongs to Eddie. The finish is glorious: Eddie splashes Edge, pulls Chavo over him for the cover, and goes to the apron to preen. Rey then does the same to Chavo and pulls Edge over for the cover. Eddie hears the bell, assumes he’s won, and then turns back to see Edge and Rey walking out victorious. His double take is picture perfect.

This isn’t the most technically impressive match of the six’s careers, but it’s a blast, with wonderful heel work from Guerrero. You could show this to anyone and they’d enjoy it.
