10 Greatest Matches From WWE's SmackDown Six
5. Edge & Rey Mysterio Vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit Vs. Los Guerreros (Survivor Series 2002)
A highlight of a great event, the six set out here to steal the show and they come close to doing it. Combining all six of his greatest assets, this is a vulgar display of power on the part of SmackDown booker Paul Heyman, and a masterclass in tag team wrestling.
What’s impressive is how impeccable a grasp on their characters each of the superstars have. Los Guerreros excel as the cowardly heels, dropping out for large swathes of the match as the other two teams tear chunks off one another, coming back at the end to steal the win. The Angle/Benoit union is especially fraught here and clearly ready to implode, with the two blaming one another for their elimination and shoving their way to the locker room. And Edge and Rey keep the crowd onside with their gutsy, underdog status.
The teams would splinter not so long after this, as most of the six set off on prosperous solo pushes (presumably always the plan). This itself led to some terrific matches, but these teams were amazing while they lasted, lighting up the division however you set them up.
