10 Greatest Matches From WWE's SmackDown Six

2. Edge Vs. Eddie Guerrero (SmackDown 2002)

Embroiled in a hard hitting feud in the latter part of 2002, Edge and Eddie had a mid card bout at Unforgiven, but the apex of their rivalry came just a few days later in a SmackDown rematch. With a red hot crowd and a well used No Disqualifications stipulation, this is often remembered as one of the greatest TV matches of the era.

We find both superstars on the cusp of main event greatness here, and they put on a remarkable show for a crowd that builds and builds into the match. It’s almost unthinkable that they had put on a physical and aggressive PPV match the previous Sunday, as they hurl themselves into wince-inducing spots for nearly 20 minutes (a particular highlight being Eddie’s sunset flip into a powerbomb off the top of a ladder - it looks colossal, and the crowd loves it).

Eddie was in one of his great heel runs here - he was terrific at playing violent and unhinged - but the appreciative audience gave both men a standing ovation, and this was a key moment for the upwards trajectory of Eddie and Edge both. WWE.com deemed this the greatest SmackDown match of all time, and it’d be hard to argue.
