3. Shawn Michaels And Chris Jericho - 2003
Even as far back as 2003, Chris Jericho was claiming to be the best in the world. One man who understandably took exception to this was the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, who challenged Y2J to prove his self-purported worth in the upcoming Royal Rumble match. This led to Michaels and Jericho entering at one and two respectively in a bid to determine the better wrestler. Apparently though, Jericho had other plans. Rather than meeting Michaels face-to-face, he enlisted the help of Christian as a decoy before sneaking up on HBK from behind and delivering a cruel low-blow. A very one-sided beat down followed, before Y2J fetched a chair to add further insult to injury. A big-time head shot resulted in a bloodied Shawn Michaels, allowing Jericho to eventually dump a limp-limbed HBK over the top rope and claim the elimination. This set-up would lead to an excellent WrestleMania clash between the two, in what was a great use of the number one and two spots of the Royal Rumble match.
