10 Greatest Opening Entrants In WWE Royal Rumble History

2. Stone Cold And Mr McMahon - 1999

When it comes to wrestling rivalries, it doesn€™t get any bigger than Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mr McMahon. And in 1999, that storied feud found its way into the Royal Rumble match. McMahon€™s sole purpose for being in the Rumble was to prevent Austin from winning it. He€™d even tried to enroll as the number 30 entrant to give himself the best possible chance of doing this, but an overruling from commissioner Michaels meant that McMahon would have to enter at number two. What then transpired was one of the most bizarre Rumble matches to date. Austin and McMahon€™s opening brawl spilled out into the crowd and through the arena, where Austin was jumped by McMahon€™s cronies in the women€™s bathroom of all places. The Rattlesnake was then stretchered into an ambulance, before hijacking said ambulance and returning to the action. But the most absurd twist of all was yet to come. With McMahon and Austin in the final two, a distraction from the Rock would allow McMahon to toss Austin over the top rope and claim a stunning, if slightly ridiculous, Royal Rumble victory.
