10 Greatest Randy Orton Matches Ever
9. Randy Orton Vs. Triple H - Last Man Standing (No Mercy 2007)
No Mercy 2007 was a historic night. It was the first time Randy Orton became WWE Champion, not once but twice, competing in two matches against another arch rival and former Evolution member, Triple H. It was also an occasion where Triple H would have to perform triple duty.
Upon defeating Umaga, Triple H learnt that Orton was revoking his rematch clause. Vince McMahon would "give the people what they want" again, making the main event a Last Man Standing match, as was also advertised to take place before Cena's injury.
Even before his 'Age of Orton' run, Randy showcased his sadistic and psychopathic side including choking Triple H with a cable and dropping 'The Game' hard onto the barricade. Orton wouldn't shy away from taking a few bumps either to escalate the excitement and tension, most notably having his skull caved in by a chair shot as his head laid on the upturned steel steps.
Both men did whatever it took to win. Hunter even taking plays out of his 'heel' book, despite being the face. This 22 minute brawl flew by. A great display of chemistry and brutality.
