10 Greatest Randy Orton Matches Ever
5. Evolution Vs. The Shield (Extreme Rules 2014)
The majority of Orton's best performances, in the ring and on the mic, often occurred when he was either a heel or whenever he was in a program involving the Evolution stable. Both of these would be the case here as the Triple H led faction reunited for the first time in nearly ten years in April 2014.
The Shield had been running riot since late 2012, doing 'The Game''s dirty work until they turned on 'The Authority', coming to the aid of the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan, the night after WrestleMania XXX.
The two factions engaged in fantasy warfare, twice, The Shield emerging victorious on both occasions. The better of their two bouts was their first at the Extreme Rules PPV. Although it would have been fitting to have a Tornado Tag or No Holds Barred stipulation, they was already plenty of chaos in store.
The six men tore the roof off the IZOD Center, now known as the Meadowlands Arena (due to re-branding, not because they literally tore the roof off and had to build another one.) This six man tag team match is one of Orton's greatest as part of Evolution and, evidently, one of the best of his storied career.
