10 Greatest Randy Orton Matches Ever
2. Randy Orton Vs. John Cena Vs. Edge Vs. Shawn Michaels (Backlash 2007)
Edge and Randy Orton competed against each in one of the 'Greatest Matches' in Backlash history, but not the one you might be thinking of.
The WWE Championship was on the line in a stacked Fatal Four Way match at Backlash 2007. Orton's desperate and opportunistic traits remained clear, proposing to Cena backstage that they should "get together" and take out 'The Heartbreak Kid' and 'The Rated R Superstar'. Cena humorously shrugged off the idea by insinuating that Orton wanted to get 'randy' with him.
Fan's overwhelmingly predicted, by text, that Cena would retain, which was not surprising. He was 'Super' Cena after all and there wasn't a lot going into the build up excluding one screwy finish in a No.1 Contenders match on RAW between HBK and Orton. The hype package before the contest, which commonly delivers, was particularly disappointing too.
Regardless, it's clear that these four men held world championships before based purely on the quality on show from each individual. The intensity and fast paced action had fans second guessing their prediction, as it looked as though any of the four legends could walk away as WWE Champion. The match was also great preview of the forthcoming rivalry between Orton and Cena.
But this wouldn't be Orton's greatest match at Backlash...
