10 Greatest Squash Matches In Wrestling History

1. Goldberg Vs. La Parka - WCW Monday Nitro (June 1 1998)

Goldberg elevated the squash as an art form. Like the Road Warriors before him, the squash wasn't a pathway to recognition but an instant portal to main event stardom.

Goldberg's approach was perhaps more impressive. He disrupted the very structure of a pro wrestling match and proved inexorable in a system designed to impede new blood in the main event scene.

This match is a classic of the squash - and indeed any other genre - because just watch it.

Goldberg is the minted United States Champion, La Parka the enterprising luchador with a clever means with which to stop the unstoppable. The Chairman decided to use his titular gimmick to crack Goldberg flush in the f*cking head with it. In an iconic badass moment, Goldberg no-sold it. La Parka then strut-danced across the ring. Was he psyching himself up? Was he leaving behind life itself in defiance? Was he simply, delightfully, insane?

He turned around and ate a nasty Spear. One of the nastiest. The poor prick got cut in half, and it's just as f*cking well there's a nursery rhyme that notified him where exactly to put the bones back together. Meanwhile, the fans in attendance treated the move like it was the winner in a World Cup final.

Professional wrestling: a man died, and even the corpse laughed.
