10 Greatest Things About WCW’s Final Year

4. The Infamous Bash At The Beach Promo

"And Hogan, you big, bald son of a b*tch, kiss my ass."

It was chaotic, it was crazy, it was prime latter-day WCW, but Vince Russo's worked-shoot promo from 2000's Bash at the Beach PPV was brilliantly bonkers and got the wrestling world talking.

Of course, this was very much the definition of watching a car crash play out. You know it's bad, you know you shouldn't look, but you can't help but take a peek at the unfolding carnage. That, ladies and gentleman, is something that is applicable to so much of WCW's final years.

Just for the sheer insanity of seeing Russo firing off on one of the biggest names in the history of the business, live on PPV, this moment deserves a mention on this list.

Subsequent years have seen Russo and Hogan both detail how this worked-shoot was all part of some grand plan to bring in ratings, yet this all bizarrely backfired when Russo went off the 'unscripted' script, and Hogan filed a legitimate lawsuit against him and never again appeared on WCW television. Again, this was all just strangely surreal and a perfect example of the madness of WCW's last couple of years - yet it undoubtedly was massively entertaining.
