1. WCW Cruiserweight Championship - Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero (Halloween Havoc 1997)
There are times in professional wrestling when two performers come together and create magic between the ropes that no one before, or since, is able to recapture. That magic unfolds before an audience who is taken on an emotional roller coaster, an audience that enjoys the athleticism and storytelling that so often blend the make the most memorable matches and moments in the history of the industry. On October 26, 1997, WCW fans were treated to one such match. Eddie Guerrero had proven to be a great villain upon making the switch from generic babyface and was embroiled in a competitive feud with Rey Mysterio over the WCW Cruiserweight Championship in the weeks leading into that year's Halloween Havoc telecast. Convincing Mysterio to put his mask on the line against Guerrero's title, the stage was set for one of the most high stakes title bouts of the year. Neither champion or challenger would allow the match to fail to live up to the hype. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x11j1yr_wcw-1997-10-26-rey-mysterio-jr-vs-eddie-guerrero-mask-vs-title-match-for-wcw-cruiserweight-champions_sport Guerrero and Mysterio wowed the Las Vegas crowd with a display of pinpoint accuracy and extraordinary chemistry as they executed some incredibly difficult moves and sequences without missing a beat. There were no botches, there were no moments where a spot looked disjointed or unnatural. Everything unfolded exactly as one would hope and it led to a breathtaking display of two all-time great workers doing what they did better than anyone else at that point. Guerrero cockily and arrogantly slapped Mysterio around, something that ultimately cost him. Mysterio countered a powerbomb attempt into a hurricanrana for the pin. While WWE produced a truly epic Hell in a Cell match between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at Bad Blood that same month, it was incredibly difficult to discount the display of perfection that Guerrero and Mysterio produced. Not only the best match in Halloween Havoc history but, arguably, the best in WCW history as well.
