Blue Demon was an institution in wrestling, and in Mexican professional sports in general. The second half of the most legendary duo of good guys in Lucha Libre history, he was considered an incorruptible champion when it came to promoting fair play and the importance of sports in the formative years of young people. He was beloved and respected because of his sense of righteousness.

Alejandro Muñoz Moreno was his real name, information that was well-known by the general public. But his honor as a luchador led him to never reveal his true face, not even during his daily routine. He never lost his mask and he never claimed a victory that wasn't earned to the last punch. He never cheated nor ever poked a single eye. He was always an honorable rival.

Inseparable ally to El Santo, both of these luchadores starred in a slew of monster movies during the 1950s, films that are still broadcast to this very day and are considered as a rite of passage for any Mexican horror fan. His legacy is carried on by his successor Blue Demon Jr. The following match features the original Blue Demon against The Mathematician (I swear he's not a Batman villain):
