7. Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy's time off was shorter than most others on this list. Whenever he left WWE, he went to TNA for long stretches, becoming their Heavyweight champion on three occasions and having plenty of success outside of Vince McMahon's promotion. He returned to WWE several times, winning gold whenever he came back, before leaving again for one reason or another, eventually staying around since his return at WrestleMania 33.

But his most recent injury in April 2019 seemed to be more minor than the others, a normal time on the shelf before making a return later that year or in early 2020. But Jeff, a recovering addict, relapsed and was arrested for driving under the influence during his time off wrestling. People were very worried that his latest relapse would be severely harmful for the beloved hero, but thankfully Jeff refused to succumb completely to his disease.

Over the months since, Hardy has fought his demons, has been open about his struggles to everyone and returned to the ring earlier this year clean and sober, looking better than he has in a long time. It's an inspiring sight to see, and one of the most emotional comebacks in wrestling history.
