10 Greatest Wrestling Comebacks Ever
6. Shawn Michaels
In 1998, Shawn Michaels suffered a career ending back injury in a Casket match with the Undertaker. He worked through it until dropping his WWF Championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin, but after that (with the exception of one indie match) he was out of the business as a worker. For four years, that remained the case. He would make sporadic appearances as an on screen figure, but was primarily focused on his battles with addiction and his relationship with God.
But then shockingly, he made his return in 2002, being booked in a match with best friend Triple H at that year's SummerSlam. Fans were wondering that after several years of being out of the business if HBK was still the supernatural talent he used to be. Over the course of the relentlessly bloody match, it became apparent to everyone watching that not only was HBK just as good as he used to be, he was better. You could practically feel the gratitude in the arena by the end of the contest.
In the end, we got 8 more years of him including several WrestleMania classics and one of the best runs in WWE history, something to be eternally grateful for.
