10 Greatest WWE Cruiserweight Wrestlers Ever
5. Kidman
A performer with every tool needed to succeed, Billy Kidman could easily have been even bigger than he was throughout his already stellar career. In the latter days of WCW, he was one of the best reasons to keep watching, and was even given a feud with Hulk Hogan.
Following WWE’s purchase of Ted Turner’s company, they eventually lost interest in the high flyer, but for a good two years it looked as though Kidman’s momentum was going to continue as it left off. Between 2001-2003 he was a major part of the Cruiserweight scene, contesting for the Cruiserweight belt against quality opposition like Matt Hardy and Jamie Noble. Kidman ended his career with an impressive seven reigns.
Most importantly, he was a joy to watch in the ring. His shooting star press ranks up there with the very best, including a ridiculous move on former tag team partner Paul London, who was strapped to a stretcher at the time.
Retiring relatively young, it seems the high risk style took years off Kidman’s in-ring career, but he ended his run with a lot of gold to look back on.
