7. Triple H

Like Rock, Triple H has long eclipsed his exploits of the late 1990s. A 14-time world champion, the fact that the former Blueblood is a five-time IC champ might come as a shock to a few younger fans. Hunter was the man The Rock beat to win his first belt, and the next couple of years provided us with a look into the new millennium, where both men would be world champions.

Trips' feuds as leader of D-Generation X against Rock and his Nation made stars out of both men, with a two out of three falls match and criminally underrated ladder match for the workhorse belt being two oft-forgotten highlights of both men's careers. The Game also unified the IC belt with his World Heavyweight Championship in 2003.

He may not have had the lengthy reigns that most others on this list can boast, but Triple H's impact on the title ran beyond his time in possession of the belt. With Hunter's outrageous success at the top of the card, his became one more name that retroactively built the prestige of the championship.
