10 Greatest WWE Intercontinental Champions Of All Time
6. Shawn Michaels
Triple H's old running buddy and the first Grand Slam champion in WWE history, Shawn Michaels comes in at six. Unsurprisingly, the best in-ring performer in wrestling history gave us one of the everlasting memories of this illustrious championship. Against Kliq pal Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X, Michaels stole the show (not for the last time at 'Mania) in a losing effort as his bid to prove he was the one true IC champ in a ladder match; his dive onto Ramon from the ladder is still used in highlight packages and hype intros to this day.
His three reigns total over 400 days - a feat only nine others have managed. More than the numbers, Michaels is the human embodiment of the workhorse belt in a time when the land of the giants was shifting towards the more outrageous, fast-paced ring work we see today, and ol' HBK was a pioneer of that movement.
Sure, two of his title runs ended in more-than-dubious circumstances, owing to Michaels' nature as an absolute nightmare to be around in the mid '90s. However, the very nature of the belt changed due to men like HBK; the title of 'workhorse' has never been more appropriate.
