Since this is before either of these teams were well-known -- and because it was the Attitude Era, where name recognition meant more than ever -- the crowd just wasn't into it. (Maybe they'd blown their wad on that Road Dogg vs. Chyna "classic" right before it?)
It's obvious that both of these teams are still pretty green here, but what they lack in polish they more than make up for with creativity and intensity. For instance, that middle rope spear counter from Edge as Jeff tried his Poetry in Motion for the second time was one of many "Oh sh*t" moments these guys would litter highlight reels with for years to come.
And sure, the constant haranguing and interference from Michael Hayes didn't help anybody look good, but if you only focus on the legit action between the two teams, this was a match that set their careers on the right track.
