Amidst all the awkwardness in the real life-love triangle-turned-storyline fodder between Edge, Lita, and Matt Hardy, it's easy to forget that there was some magnificent in-ring action that didn't involve live sex celebrations.

Matt and Edge's steel cage match at Unforgiven remains the high mark of their feud, but this brief and brutal bout deserves some recognition, too. The animosity between these two guys -- who genuinely hated each other backstage -- permeated throughout the entire arena as they beat the living hell out of each other. This was one of the most intense in-ring brawls of the era.

It may not have been the prettiest display either of them have put on, but every haymaker sounded like a potato and each chokehold seemed like it was actually going to kill the other guy. It felt real.

Some folks don't like the ending, with the referee stopping the match because Matt was basically out on his feet -- a la UFC or boxing rules -- but it added a more vicious layer to Edge's character in the long run.
