10 Greatest WWE SmackDown Endings

7. Austin D-Construction Co. - 27 April 2000

After 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was run over backstage at Survivor Series '99, the WWF's biggest star was written off TV, allowing him to get much-needed neck surgery. During the nine-month layoff, 'The Rattlesnake' was conspicuously absent from WWF programming... aside from a brief yet hugely welcome return on the 27 April edition of SmackDown.

At the time, D-Generation X - then comprising of Triple H, The New Age Outlaws, and X-Pac, along with Stephanie and Tori - had been travelling from show to show like rock stars, complete with their own tour bus. Nicknamed 'The DX Express' (not to be confused with 'The Lex Express' used by Luger in '93), the bus was frequently referenced as part of the DX act during this time.

In typical Austin fashion, no good ride goes unperished and 'The Texas Rattlesnake' soon set his sights on the degenerates' lavish wheels. On the final SmackDown before Backlash, Austin made his emphatic return to WWF programming by using a crane to destroy Triple H's beloved vehicle, leaving DX's pride and joy fit for the scrapyard.

Austin would appear once more that month at the huge Backlash PPV just days later. However, he wouldn't make his official, full-time return until Unforgiven five months later.
