10 Greatest WWE SummerSlam PPVs Ever

4. 1992

But for all the beauty and history involved with a Madison Square Garden show, it doesn’t quite compare to the record-breaking SummerSlam of 1992 which emanated from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The home of English football opened its doors to WWE, whereupon The British Bulldog and Bret Hart would steal the show, providing us with one of the biggest pops in WWE history as the homecoming hero captured the Intercontinental Championship in a classic main event.

Another match well worth a mention was the WWE Championship bout, in which Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior went 28 minutes before falling victim to a double count-out decision.

Despite all that, SummerSlam 1992 will forever be fondly remembered for the spectacle of the occasion more than anything else. Coming from one of the most famous Stadiums in the entire world - whichever sporting field you come from - this remains the only 'big four' WWE PPV to have taken place outside of North America, as well as the best-attended non-WrestleMania show of all time with a total crowd of 80,355.
