Johnny Cash's "Boy Named Sue" learned that a girl's name makes a man tough and Shirley Crabtree is further proof of this. The boy who would later become Big Daddy came from a wrestling family (brothers Brian and Max were wrestlers and Brian became one of the game's biggest promoters) and was encouraged by his strongman father to picks fights with strangers from a young age to toughen him up.

He had an early career as a classic blue-eye before retiring and coming back, years later and pounds heavier, as Big Daddy, avuncular friend to children everywhere and mascot for the late phase of British wrestling's glory days. With his sequined cape, top hat and Union Jack costume, he's the best-known of all wrestlers from the period.

All together now: "Easy! Easy! Easy!"
