10 Greats From The Golden Age Of British Wrestling
5. Mick McManus
One of British wrestling's greatest stars and biggest villains, London boy McManus had more TV appearances than any other British wrestler during the time he was active. Known as "The Man You Love to Hate," he was a perfect heel, pushing the boundaries of bad behaviour just enough to keep the crowd riled up and wanting more.
A big celebrity in his day, McManus was snapped hanging out with the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Prince Philip, Raquel Welch, Rod Hull... He was also well-regarded as a promoter, manager and businessman and when he quit wrestling completely, made a tidy living for himself as a public speaker and expert in antique porcelain.
