10 Growing Pains AEW Is Already Having

When Alex 'Goldenboy' Mendez joined Jim Ross and Excalibur a Fyter Fest, fans theorised online that AEW were reacting to negative comments about Alex Marvez' performance at Double Or Nothing. That wasn't it. 'Goldenboy', an esports announcer, was there as a one-off due to a partnership with the CEO Gaming convention.

By Fight For The Fallen, the much-maligned Marvez was back in the booth.

The slick exchanges of Mendez, Ross and Excalibur were gone. Alex, bless his soul for trying, doesn't have the chops to be an engaging pro wrestling commentator. He's too quiet, unanimated and passive to be a pleasant listen, and he often gets in the way of his peers when they're trying to tell a story.

As much as it's admirable that AEW are sticking by their man, they should realise that his work is harming their product. JR and Excalibur would be fine on their own (in fact, they could become a solid duo), and they don't need that un-energetic third wheel.

Bring in Don West.
