10 Growing Pains AEW Is Already Having

1. Shows Are Dragging

Not including the 'Buy In' preshow festivities, Fight For The Fallen was around four hours long. Tack that on and the entire broadcast ran for almost five, which is too long.

Here's a handy comparison: WWE's derided Stomping Grounds show ran for 3:11:38. With the 59-minute Kickoff portion added, it had a total run time of 4:10:39. That's just over 10 minutes longer than AEW's main pay-per-view show was by itself on Saturday. This is truly the era of inflated supershows, folks.

Further issues arise when realising that AEW's cards tend to sag heavily after the first few matches. Some bouts, like Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian, Kenny Omega vs. Cima from Fight For The Fallen and the Riho, Yuka Sakazaki and Nyla Rose three-way from Fyter Fest, are long for the sake of seeming epic. This is subjective, obviously (some people will like the length), but potentially problematic.

Fight For The Fallen could've shaved an hour off and been more impactful for it. Would anyone have missed some minutes off Page vs. Sabian or five mins cut from Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie, for example? AEW must learn when to edit their roster's exuberance to go out and have the best match ever when it makes shows run long.

What other growing pains do you think AEW are experiencing? Do you agree they're even having any? Let us know down in the comments!
