10 Gruesome WWE Injuries That Made Us Sick

A broken nose is among the most common injuries a wrestler can suffer, such is the potent nature of professional wrestling, and can often work to the benefit of the victim; Becky Lynch had already ditched 'The Lass Kicker' dreck in late-2018, but it was the image of a bloodied Becky that pushed her past the threshold into immortality as 'The Man'.

Then, there's Paul London.

London was never going to be a franchise player within WWE. A scrappy 5'10", 180-pounder, he was a gratifying watch in the cruiserweight division, but this was his limit and London knew it, which is why he wrestled every match with such disregard for his own safety. Facing Booker T on the 23 September 2004 SmackDown, Paul London ran at Booker, throwing himself into the deep end of a back elbow. It's a harmless spot and one that is done so commonly in modern pro wrestling that you can bat an eyelid and it's already happened another three times.

This time, however, the severity of the move was real. London was bleeding, badly, from the mouth, with his face now resembling an unseemly beheaded Red Dead Redemption character. WWE's bloodshed in the Ruthless Aggression Era was typically staged, meaning that when it was real, it was real; the pain in London's eyes is substantial, crushing evidence.
