10 Hardest-Hitting Wrestlers Today
2. Katsuyori Shibata
Katsuyori Shibata kicks people. He kicks them in a way that looks downright unpleasant. In fact, if you had the choice between being pushed off a cliff or being kicked in the chest by Shibata, you are better off wishing for a parachute.
Trained in the New Japan Dojo, Shibata is one of those rare wrestlers who seems incapable of putting on a bad match. His strike-based offence allows him to walk into the ring with everyone from Will Ospreay to Bad Luck Fale and come out the other end looking like a star. He somehow manages to combine being ridiculously smooth with being horrifically tough. You can only imagine that other wrestlers hate him for it.
Having just won the New Japan Cup, Shibata is set to face Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis. While New Japan appear to have put their faith in Okada at the moment, and Shibata's chances of dethroning him are small, there is always a chance that he'll be rewarded for his stellar work and kick his way to his first Heavyweight Championship.
