10 Harsh Truths Vince McMahon Needs To Understand About WWE Network
2. Many WWE Fans Are Merely Casual Fans
They can brag about having 4 to 4.5 million viewers that watch Raw in America every week, but how many of those viewers are going to buy WWE Network? The latest numbers that were released were 667,000 people and even that includes people not in America that found a way to get WWE Network. That means the reported initial number saw about 17% of Raw viewers decided to subscribe to WWE Network. If you're reading this website right now you might be a hardcore WWE fan and that's great, but we're the minority. A lot of people simply want to watch Raw on Monday, forget about wrestling for a week and then watch the next week. That's all the wrestling they want or need. It's a TV show for them. It's not a lifestyle. It's the same way that I feel about Ultimate Fighting Championship. I watch a lot of the PPVs and a lot of the Fox specials, but I don't watch Ultimate Fighter anymore, nor do I read about every single news item relating to the sport. I'm a casual UFC fan that has no interest in ordering their Fight Pass service. The $9.99 cost for WWE Network is great, but it's not a cost issue for the average consumer. It's a time spent watching wrestling issue. A lot of people just don't want to watch wrestling all day every day. It's certainly understandable.
