10 Hidden Times WWE Stars Broke Character

The Mixed Match Challenge was a desert rose between 2017-2018 - a delightfully stupid idea existing as part of a business relationship with Facebook that, due to the actual product being so useless, became one of the market leader's most charming presentations.

A tournament of randomly-thrown-together mixed tag teams resulted in all sorts of cool shared entrances and attires, unlikely allegiances and even minor breakout stories (such as a teased romance between Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss) that could be effortlessly inserted into the main roster churn, the matches were secondary to the warmth and weirdness of it all.

Never was this better evidenced than between Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn, who teamed together on either side of Zayn's 2017 heel turn bonded by a love of dumb wordplay and their hair colour. Shortly before she became 'The Man' and seemingly had nowhere to go, she was howling laughing at everything they did together - best expressed during a backstage speech about getting ill due to a bad batch of muffins from a Philadelphia bakery.

They weren't exactly the good old days for either, but as long-tenured pros still waiting for their insane boss to give them a fair shot, they were experts at maximising their minutes.
