10 Highest-Rated WWE Raw Segments Ever
10. Vince McMahon Has To Leave The WWF (26 July 1999) - 7.77
A mere 24 hours after Vince McMahon watched Steve Austin defend his WWF Title against The Undertaker at Fully Loaded 1999, he was ordered to be a "man of his word' by Stone Cold and leave the ring. Jim Ross even got in on the act and helped sing a farewell chorus to the boss as he was (temporarily) banned from appearing on TV.
The Observer covered the 26 July episode in their 2 August issue and reported that this segment drew a whopping 7.77 quarter rating.
Further, the episode as a whole nearly topped the WWF's best ever head-to-head rating with WCW's Monday Nitro. It wouldn't quite achieve that, but this was a hot period for the company, so get used to reading about 1999.
It's especially interesting to read in the Observer just how much television ratings meant back then. Smack bang in the midst of the Monday Night War era, any breakdowns of segment ratings Meltzer was willing to provide were gobbled up by the newsletter's readers.
