10 Hilarious Times WWE Stars Parodied Other Wrestlers
10. Big Show Impersonating John Cena
In 2001, the then-WWF sent Paul Wight (better known as the Big Show) to its developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). Having been with the company since 1999, Show had gotten stale and needed to vastly improve his work both in the ring and on the mic. Thankfully, his time with OVW resulted in him returning to the WWE better than ever, and he went on to work main event matches with the likes of Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, and Eddie Guerrero. By this point, Big Show was high-profile enough to be used to enhance younger rookies on the roster in need of a big name to feud with. Enter John Cena. Portraying a Vanilla Ice-esque gimmick so awful that it was brilliant, Cena was edgy, cocky, and tongue firmly in cheek. His battle rapping may have been reigned in to the superman-style guy he is today, but he was just as much of a cartoon character in 2003 as he is today. As fans started to warm to him, he was thrown into a program with Big Show, in a rivalry that ran right from late 2003 to the following March, at Wrestlemania XX. As Cena started to climb the WWE's ladder, Big Show was put firmly in his way, and delivered a hilariously terrible impersonation of the West Newbury native. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goOsVTdpOsw From the ill-fitting bandana wrapped around his head, to wearing the local sports team's jersey, Big Show's Cena impersonation was just what both men required to get a bit of animosity flowing. Granted, the look of accomplishment on Show's face after challenging Cena to 'Bring ya izz-ass to the riz-ing' was all anyone needed to be sold on the idea of these two going at it, the angle paid off beautifully; Cena managed to hoist the 500lb Big Show onto his shoulders for an FU at Wrestlemania to win the US title, and the rest is, of course, history.
