There is no doubting that Ultimate Warrior was one of the most electric, energetic and attention-grabbing acts to have ever competed in a wrestling ring. When it came to in-ring talent, mind, it was always down to Warrior’s opponents to carry the match.

One such opponent who was straddled with Warrior for more than his fair share of matches was “Ravishing” Rick Rude. While Rude did get an Intercontinental Championship run out of his long-standing feud with the Parts Unknown native, he also had to regularly deal with a performer who was careless and an accident waiting to happen.

It was back during their run of matches in 1989 when Rude had finally had enough of Warrior and his stiff ring work. And not stiff as in purposely done snuggly to give the action a certain authenticity; no, Warrior was stiff because he simply didn’t know what he was doing.

After one so much, Rude asked Warrior to work a little lighter next time. Likely through a cavalcade of snorts and grunts, Warrior proclaimed, “I don’t have to because I’m The Warrior.”

And with that, Rick Rude knocked Ultimate Warrior out cold with one solitary punch.
