For a long time, the booking direction for Cena has been that he'd equal Ric Flair's sixteen time World Champion record. That's why the announcers and merchandise play up the "15x" gimmick so much - it was all about setting the scene for his next triumph. That monumental victory was expected to take place in 2016, in what would have been Cena's last big run before turning 40 in 2017. But with the injury, Cena isn't going to be back in action until around Night Of Champions in September. Seth Rollins will have already returned and will be in the title mix by then, while Roman Reigns will also be strongly established in the championship scene. Others will inevitably have progressed and will also be in the mix. What this means, is that Cena's time may have passed him by. Missing almost a year of action is tough, especially in a time when the business is moving focus toward a younger generation of wrestlers. Can Cena really re-establish himself with Reigns and Rollins getting better and being pushed harder all the time?
