In the last couple of years of WCW, there were dozens of "shoot" segments where wrestlers would say how they really felt, saying things a little close-to-the-bone and 'insider'. It was an attempt to garner higher ratings by adding more realism to the show. Sometimes this can work, but when you do it over and over again with very little follow up, it becomes a big problem. From Scott Steiner saying what he thinks of Ric 'old bastard' Flair to Vince Russo crucifying Hulk Hogan live on PPV after they have Jeff Jarrett "lie down" for the Hulkster, it descended into a blurry mess and viewers were tuning out on a weekly basis. TNA's shoot promo segments have been equally as ridiculous over the years. It all started back in 2003 when Roddy Piper was given a live mic and confronted Vince Russo in the ring about how he 'killed' Piper's cousin Owen Hart by coming up with the Over The Edge 1999 stunt. It's on YouTube if you really want to try and watch it, but be warned; it's awfully uncomfortable to sit through. In 2010, when Eric Bischoff came out on TNA Impact to talk about how he was going to help turn the company around, Easy E ended up tearing up the script on live TV and throwing it into the crowd. A segment which ended with security having to go into the crowd and find the pieces of paper, because it was the legit script for that night's show. Dumb dumb dumb.
