10 Huge Questions Raised By Stephanie McMahon Quitting WWE
3. Are Some Workers Going Too?
It's no secret that Vince McMahon pays more attention to the small clutch of main-eventers working his biggest storylines than he does to those lower down the pecking order on shows. This is why he had no clue who GUNTHER was (back when he was called WALTER), and why some lower-card stories used to stink.
Before retiring in July 2022, Vince's creativity was in the toilet. Raw was an unwatchable mess of a three-hour show, and SmackDown only floated higher on the quality scale because the lack of that third hour made it slicker. Sure, there was some good stuff too, but fans often had to wade through a river of sh*te to find it.
Backstage, many wrestlers were constantly looking over one shoulder wondering if they were doing a good enough job or not. There was rarely a direct line to the boss, and that created a culture of bizarre fear rather than progressive encouragement.
In other words, some wrestlers might prefer to follow Stephanie out the door.
