10 Huge Signings WWE Must Make In 2020
9. Matt Sydal
Along similar lines, Matt Sydal still has much to offer in a certain role.
He was fired under incredibly dumb, cheapskate circumstances - by testing positive for synthetic marijuana instead of just paying the so-called "pot tax" - but, if you can forgive the pun, he seems more of a dope than a man with the dreaded attitude problems that, for some, never seem to go away.
The buzz surrounding John Morrison seems to betray the perception fans had of him when he first left, and perhaps this speaks to something. Fans seemingly have retained an emotional connection to talents that weren't afforded a chance to star in the wilderness between the Ruthless Aggression and PG Eras, though this will only prove itself to be true in the live arena setting. Sydal as Evan Bourne produced a crop of lowkey undercard bangers, and may receive a star reaction from those who perceive him as a missed opportunity.
WWE's main roster also needs an established, respected veteran to perform in a role just above the enhancement talent capacity to provide a bridge from the debut to the title programme. In Sydal, WWE has a performer, potentially, who can both produce guaranteed TV belters and create that elusive sense of a tier through which the younger stars can progress.
