10 Huge Wrestling Matches That Were Given Away On Free TV
7. Triple H vs Chris Jericho - WWF Championship - Raw, April 17th, 2000
This match wasn't as well publicized as the others, it wasn't announced the week before and didn't have all that much build-up - Jericho was mainly in the Intercontinental Title picture, while Triple H usually faced more established opponents. Regardless, Chris Jericho and Triple H had an impromptu match for the WWF Championship which Jericho 'won' when Earl Hebner fast counted - giving Y2J the win. Triple H later hunted Hebner down and threatened him, forcing Earl to reverse the decision with the win not officially being recognized. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUhkNK8RqGQ This ultimately was a big match, though Jericho had only been in the WWF for a year, both men were significant forces in the company and this was their first match with any real big stakes. Many say that management were testing the reaction for Jericho on the main event stage, hence the taking back of the Title. While we got Triple H vs Jericho on the main stage at Wrestlemania in 2003, it happened on Raw first.
