10 HUGE WWE Backlash 2020 Predictions You Need To Know

In which "Jinder Mahal wins WWE Title" is no longer the most insane thing to happen at Backlash.

Greatest Wrestling Match Ever
WWE

The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever, for f*cks sake.

It's hard to know where to start with this, or where any of it will finish. Recent reports suggest Vince McMahon earnestly believes it could be just that, but then his mind was only able to summon a rotten Bayley segment and The Gobbledy Gooker when he needed things to take the p*ss out of Triple H with, so it's plausible he's already forgotten their WrestleMania 36 snoozer let alone the half-decent one they had this time sixteen years ago.

How did we all get so old, man? That should be rhetorical, but the answer is actually "by watching Edge Vs Randy Orton from WrestleMania 36", so expect to inch closer to the end of your term during this strange impossibility of a match. Who exactly are they trying to fool? Even if this works for SEO purposes or somehow convinces casual fans to sign up for free, and then for their first live show get the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever, it's not like they'll stick around when they've actually seen it.It's been so diversionary that it's taken up the entirety of this introduction and most of the pre-pay-per-view talk.

Some other half-finished angles may benefit from the reduced spotlight as a result, unless people don't even bother to tune in based on the farcical headline promise. WWE's Empty Arena Era has been due some sort of Backlash, one way or another...

10. Jeff Hardy Vs. Sheamus

Greatest Wrestling Match Ever
WWE.com

This has been written before the airing of the go-home edition SmackDown, but not before news...ahem...leaked of Jeff Hardy apparently throwing bis p*ss in Sheamus' face during a contract signing segment on the show.

It's the latest in a long line of shock tactics used in a feud that started so simply. 'The Celtic Warrior' was narked that Hardy's return continued to steal his thunder and wanted to kick f*ck out of him to make that point.

Or did for a bit, before he hatched an evil scheme.

Boring himself thinking of yet another midcard match, Sheamus instead doused both Jeff and his car in booze and framed a hit and run on Elias to tarnish 'The Charismatic Enigma's latest comeback as well as both of their chances of winning the Intercontinental Title.

Cool.

The upshot of all of this is that they'll probably have a decent match. The downside is that the guitar player wasn't the only thing in the pair's headlights. Extreme Rules is next month and there's no way this doesn't come to a head there instead. Sheamus steals one here to give Michael Cole a call he finally won't be offended by.
