Of the many, many strange foes conjured up for The Undertaker, few fail to stand out quite so miserably as Hade Vansen.

Back in December 2008, a curious vignette aired on an episode of SmackDown in which Vansen spoken cryptically of darkness, cult followers, and the longing to fulfil some sort of prophecy involving 'The Deadman'. Those curious about where exactly such an angle might've been going were left deeply disappointed when the whole thing was dropped almost immediately.

Then-booker Freddie Prinze Jr. has since confirmed that a Vansen vs. The Undertaker feud was indeed on the cards at the time. Vansen was expected to debut with a team of oddball heels doing his bidding. Rumors have varied from a B-show, quick program to Hansen being built up, astoundingly, for a WrestleMania showdown with 'Big Evil'. That was at least until Triple H laid eyes on the vignette.

Dismissing the 5'11, 220lbs Vansen as an average joe, 'The Game' seemingly put Vince McMahon off the idea of the program as well. Much to Prinze Jr.'s chagrin, the whole schtick was dropped before it even got started, leaving it as one of many what-ifs from over the years.
