2. Ric Flair Vs. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair was the wrestling "dream match" in the 1980s. Hogan was the larger than life, crossover star who'd led WWE's invasion of celebrity culture and domination of the wrestling business, while Flair was WCW's cornerstone, and a truly world-class performer who'd been considered an industry standard-bearer for years. Pitting the companies' two biggest stars against one another should have produced the greatest feud in the sport's history, and by 1991, it looked like it was finally coming to fruition.

'The Nature Boy' transitioned to WWE following a dispute with WCW's Jim Herd, and left as their champion. He showed-up on Prime Time Wrestling almost immediately, and WWE wasted no time in building towards a match with Hogan. With a blurred WWE Tag Team Title belt in his hand, Ric declared himself "the real world champion," he set his sights on 'The Hulkster' right away, and the two began duking it out on the house show circuit.

This should have culminated in the biggest WrestleMania main event to date, but the feud faded into nothingness. The only way to see the duo's rivalry was at a live event, and the storyline was scrapped for reasons that remain mysterious today. Flair went on to become WWE Champion by winning the 1992 Royal Rumble, but he faced Randy Savage at 'Mania VIII, while Hogan wrestled Sid Justice.
