To this day, nothing brings chills quite like the single reverberating tone of that gong. Crowds still erupt when they hear it. Bad hips and lackluster WrestleMania bouts can't squelch it. Dismal booking and faux retirements can't hobble it.

Whether it was the announcers waxing rhapsodic about the temperature in the venue dropping, or the combination of dry ice, fake lightning, and the arena lights dimming, the mood was set for the arrival of the Phenom.

But that first note, that single peal of a clapper striking a church bell, is the catalyst. Sobering and intoxicating all at once, it's the stuff of kayfabe nightmares and wrestling fan dream matches.
