10 Iconic Sounds In Wrestling

5. Stone Cold's Glass Break

From a single sound that chills the blood to a single sound that brings the crowd to its feet...

Mick Foley had his car crash noise, Ric Flair had his woooo!, and Bret Hart had his opening riff, but none of them hold a candle to the reaction that Stone Cold's shattering glass had on the audience. Often, that was the only sound you heard other than the crowd erupting. It was the sonic equivalent of Jim Ross's famous refrain: business is about to pick up.

On the night Mick Foley won the title, you couldn't even hear Stone Cold's theme music. It was just the glass breaking and the roar of the crowd. There was no better introduction for the ultimate antihero than that glass break. Non-wrestling fans know it. It is the Wilhelm Scream of sports entertainment, instantly identifiable and utterly unmistakable.
