10 Iconic Wrestling Themes You Never Knew Were Recycled

6. Kurt Angle, Real Patriot

Kurt Angle's theme fit him like a glove. The staccato blare of synthesized horns read perfectly as a parody of the generic "triumphant" fanfares that accompany Oympic coverage, and the middle section provided an ideal place for creative fans to insert a derisive chant (they settled, famously, on "you suck"). It was such a perfect encapsulation of his goofy-yet-badass persona that he would use variations of it later on in his WWE career, most notably a version that removed the "you suck" beat (which sucked) and a purposely awful rap version (!) called "I Don't Suck" (which was awesome).

Amazingly enough, the song was originally written for the Patriot, a masked goofus brought in to get beaten up by Bret Hart as part of the US/Canada War of 1997. The only crucial differences? The original version contained about half of the synth backing and double the sleigh bells. Yes, the WWE once featured a discount Captain America that proudly strutted to the ring to a chorus of jingle bells.

Kurt Angle suddenly doesn't seem to suck quite so badly.
