10 Iconic Wrestling Themes You Never Knew Were Recycled

4. Ricky Steamboat Inherits Ultimo Dragón's Theme

Ricky Steamboat's original theme, from an era that played rather fast and loose with copyright law, was "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project. This synthy classic had kind of a space-age ninja feel to it that was perfect for the Dragon. Sadly, due to copyright concerns, WWE would later dub in a similar, albeit lesser studio track called "Hercules" for home video releases. In any case, it was the graceful melody of "Sirius" that heralded the Dragon's approach to the ring at WrestleMania III, which only added to the epic milieu of that event.

On the other hand, when Ultimo Dragón arrived, they just grafted a dinosaurian squawk to a generic Asian-inspired rock number. Dragón's tenure was criminally short, however, and his barely-used theme would go into hibernation for 5 years. Apparently, some poor guy in the A/V truck was told on short notice that Ricky Steamboat was going to be on Raw, and, in a panic, saw an audio file labeled "dragon" and ran with it. WWE has decided to stick with it, and they have used this purloined theme for all subsequent DVD and video game releases featuring the Steamer. And yes, if you're wondering, the dragon in Ricky's video is also stolen, this time from the logo for New Year's Revolution 2005.
