10 Iconic WWE Hardcore 24/7 Title Defences
2. Mean Street Clown Posse
Date: 20 April 2000
Place: First Union Center Carpark, Philadelphia
Weapons Used: Broom, wooden pallet, bucket of rocks, clown shoe
After a visit to the circus, Crash Holly, armed with only balloon sculptures for protection, was forced to defend his Hardcore Championship in the arena car park. “Crash had those... errr... little doggy balloons made for him” will go down as one of the oddest calls from Michael Cole.
Crash was first ambushed by a clown with a Paul Bearer squawk (Pete Gas in disguise). After kicking out from a broom over the back, Crash received the most delicate German Suplex of all time, followed by a vicious beating with a clown shoe, at the hands of the other two members of the clown Posse. Crash managed to escape leaving the Posse to more of their comedic in-fighting; a result of Shane McMahon leaving them to toil in the lower-mid-card. The Mean Street Posse were snivelling, sweater vest wearing heels, but in hardcore hindsight they are at least a more iconic trio than Lucha House Party.
Result: Crash Holly escaped with the Hardcore Championship but lost his inflatables during the battle.
