10 Ideas WWE Blatantly STOLE From WCW

8. “The Granddaddy Of Them All”

Chris Jericho has previously mentioned during several interviews that WWE stopped calling WrestleMania the "Granddaddy Of Them All" because it sounded old to Vince. Here's the thing: That pay-per-view nickname is old. Even older than 'Mania itself.

It belonged to none other than Starrcade first.

The NWA/WCW annual favourite ran from 1983-2000. WWE eventually brought it back as a house show special in the modern era, but they'll likely never run Starrcade as a full blown supershow. Why? Well, it kinda beat McMahon to the punch - Starrcade '83 predated 'Mania I by two years.

WrestleMania has assumed ownership of the lofty 'wrestling's original mega-event' perch, but that once belonged to Starrcade. It was the NWA who produced the biz's biggest show in 1983 and '84, not the WWF. Then, when 'Mania rolled around, most gleefully pretended that nobody had ever tried anything of the sort.

"Showcase Of The Immortals" is a better nickname for WrestleMania anyway.
