10 Important Steps In Goldberg's Evolution

1. Infamous WrestleMania XX Debacle

Bill Goldberg was never really happy with how he was booked in WWE. In interviews after the fact, the guy outright said that he felt undervalued in the company, and rarely enjoyed working there. By the time the calendar turned to 2004, there were talks that he wouldn't renew his contract, and would ride off into the sunset. Similarly, Brock Lesnar was starting to question his future. This led to the incredibly unique scenario presented at WrestleMania XX. Both Goldberg and Lesnar were on their way out of the promotion, but were booked to face one another on the Pay-Per-View regardless. Steve Austin was installed as the Special Guest Referee, in what must surely rank as one of the most odd bouts in 'Mania history. Fans were aware that both men were about to leave, and hounded them with chants and jeers as a result. The only one cheered during the match was Austin, who seemed to find humour in the whole ordeal. Due to the intense atmosphere and context, a lot of fans forget that Goldberg actually defeated Lesnar. It was a strange end to the man's WWE tenure, less than 7 years after he'd first burst onto the scene in WCW. What other important steps did Bill Goldberg take during his career?
